Since 2022, The Renewable Energy Initiative has paid a $50,000 premium yearly for energy used by the university to come from renewable energy through New River Light and Power’s (NRLP) Green Power Program, which sources hydroelectric power from the Yadkin River Hydroelectric Project. Think this is cool? You can offset your own carbon footprint by purchasing blocks of hydroelectric power for just $5 per 250 kWh on NRLP’s website!
