The Appalachian State Renewable Energy Initiative is a student-led, student-funded organization that works to install renewable energy and energy efficiency projects on campus. Projects can be proposed by any student, and are carried out with the help of faculty and staff advisors by the Renewable Energy Initiative. Since its inception in 2004, the ASUREI has designed and funded a number of projects, to reduce the environmental impact of the University, including photovoltaic arrays, LED retrofits, the Broyhill Wind Turbine, and so much more!.
